The owners are absolutely lovely, friendly and ready to help. The room was cosy and clean. The whole building is really nice! The area is quiet. There are plenty of parking spots. The centre is easily reachable by walking or by bus.
The greatest hostel experience I’ve ever had. This place is so magical! I met so many friendly, amazing people from all over the world, who I could have deep, meaningful conversations with. The staff is multi-lingual, friendly and keep the place very clean. Breakfast included. Friday night pizza and dance party. The walk to town follows the coastline and there is a bus stop right outside. Also, you don’t have to be a surfer to feel welcomed here, but the amenities for surfers are top notch. I can’t wait to come back!
This place totally destroyed my vacation, even though it looked pretty good in the photos, but that's the case when the photo has nothing to do with reality. First is the organization: breakfast… 2 types of fruit plus toast with jam + coffee is not breakfast. (It could just be a plus service, but don't call it breakfast if it doesn't have protein and it's a surf camp.) Plus it starts at 9, when the surf classes start at 10... a lot of people waiting, so they can't get what was served at 9. Second. kitchen. The place has a place to prepare the food but all the time I wanted to prepare the food, the people who worked there took up everything and it was very difficult to get space (I have paid money to wait for the workers to eat, well) third Bedbugs! I woke up the first night full of itching, I told them and they didn't offer me a room change. They did a cleaning with a device but I slept and the same story happened again, full of itching. They started to show me papers and certificates that in the end I don't know why, because I have felt the result in my body... Not recommended
Stayed here last week, it was possibly the cleanest hostel I’ve stayed in. Staff are always on the cleaning jobs almost a little excessive if you ask me, nice to have a little grit and character in the place. Can’t comprehend why you’d clean so much but hey maybe they were enjoying it? Anywho, nice place, cozy beds and rooms
Surfing: Do not come here for surfing. Many things on the website are false; they send more than 8 people per lesson, I went with 10 and only one instructor, also they do not offer photography as mentioned online. The lessons are for beginners and do not offer multiple levels, nor different options for boards, nothing for intermediate. Do not pre pay the lessons; if they change the lesson time or the instructor is sick (causing me to not want to go), they will not refund the lesson.
Staff: The staff was extremely unprofessional and immature even for a hostel. A lot of screaming and they were never really happy to help, or helpful in general. Some came off as condescending or rude, others just kind of involved with themselves and bothered nor around when I needed something. It was somewhat uncomfortable how much they flirted with each other and other guests.
Lodging: Not the worst, but not the greatest. There was one bathroom for 12 guests which was problematic. There was not an outlet for my bed and the one power-strip provided for the room was attached to the top bunk across from me (do I let my things hang? Place them on someone else’s bed?). Also the provided small shelf with my bunk was slanted so all my belongings fell off. The bedding is clean however my sheets had tears in the corners that caused the sheets to come off the mattress after my second night.
Overall, if you looking to come to Gijon to surf I recommend different lodging and taking lessons with a shop in town.
Edit: down to 1 star because owner just lied about everything in the response..
Fantastic hostel. Great ambiance, friendly staff, very clean. Good breakfast. Only downside is the beds are 1.90m and a bit creaky. Next time I'll visit them again!
Chill and lovely stay in this hostel. Huge common area, variety of activities offered, lots of friendly solo travellers, friendly staff. Recommended for surfing or for a stay if you're looking for a company
I loved the environment that the hostel has! The people are great and lovely! Surf lessons definitely recommended. They are welcoming and open minded and I just had a great time! I even extended my stay (which many people do). I definitely recommend it for everybody!
